Village and Community Updates
A SLICE OF LIFE. Join the Lake Forest & Lake Bluff Chamber of Commerce for their annual Business and Government Update. This year's program recognizes Jeff Urso of Donati's Pizza for his exceptional community service. Congratulations, Jeff!
ALL GOOD THINGS MUST COME TO AN END. Groot will collect Christmas trees at no additional cost starting next week. You have until January 15 to place your Christmas tree at the curb for collection and recycling.
JUST A LITTLE BIT LONGER. The COVID-19 vaccine is already being administered in our area. Because vaccine supply will be limited at first, certain groups of people who are at higher risk will be eligible for vaccination before others. Lake County Health Department asks that you register now so that you can be notified when you are eligible to receive the vaccine.
SUBSCRIBE AND SAVE. Lake Bluff has partnered with six other North Shore suburbs to create Illinois' largest municipally sponsored community solar program. Community solar allows residents and small businesses to subscribe and save 20% on their electricity supply charges through bill credits while supporting renewable energy development. For more information, visit lakebluff.org/CommunitySolar.
Board and Committee Actions
For more information, visit the Village's meeting packets and videos page. Agendas and meeting materials are typically available the Friday before a meeting; videos within a week after the meeting; and minutes after they are approved at the next meeting of the public body. Not all meetings are recorded on video. Due to the COVID-19 emergency, meetings are primarily virtual. Click here for details on the format and how to participate.
Recent Architectural Board of Review Meeting (Tuesday, January 5, 7 p.m.). The ABR approved a sign permit for Bedolla's Auto Body (104 Skokie Valley Road).
Recent and Upcoming Electoral Board Meetings (January 4, 8, and 11). At the conclusion of its most recent meeting, the Electoral Board directed Staff to prepare a written order overruling the only remaining objection to any candidate's nomination papers (Aaron Towle). The other three objections to nomination papers for candidates Mickey Collins, Katharine Hatch, and Susan Rider were withdrawn. The Electoral Board will consider adopting final orders to reflect these actions at its next scheduled meeting Monday, January 11 at 5:45 p.m. Additional meetings of the Electoral Board may be scheduled prior to the next edition of the Lake Bluff Letter. Notice of each meeting will be provided on lakebluff.org and as required by law.
Upcoming Committee-of-the-Whole (January 11, 6 p.m.). The COW will discuss the pilot programs concerning residential chickenkeeping, residential beekeeping, and short term rentals all set to expire in 2021.
Upcoming Village Board Meeting (January 11, 7 p.m.). The Village Board will consider:
- Extending the Village's state of emergency.
- Approving a sign exemption for JC Licht (413 W. Washington Ave.)
Upcoming Historic Preservation Commission Meeting (January 13, 7 p.m.). The Historic Preservation Commission will discuss its plan for public outreach throughout late January and February regarding its proposed regulatory changes. |
