Village and Community Updates
HALLOWEEN SMARTS. As you plan your Halloween festivities, make sure to celebrate safely. We can have a fun Halloween and be safe too. The Village has flyers available to you to print or pickup from Village facilities starting Monday to tell trick-or-treaters what to expect.
FACING SCHOOL is a digital exhibit capturing and preserving moments from the first months of a very unique school year for Lake Bluff students. They want to hear your stories.
GENTLY USED COAT donations for veterans can be made at the Public Safety Building lobby, 45 E. Center Ave. during business hours.
ORIOLE GROVE MASTER PLAN. Lake County Forest Preserves has scheduled a virtual meeting this Monday, October 28 to review plans for Oriole Grove Forest Preserve within the Village. The comment period has been also extended to November.
LANDSCAPE NOISE. It is unlawful to use a leaf blower before 8 a.m. on weekdays and before 9 a.m. on weekends and holidays. If you hear a violation, contact the police non-emergency dispatch line at (847) 234-8760.
Board and Committee Actions

Agendas and meeting materials are typically available the Friday before a meeting; videos within a week after the meeting; and minutes after they are approved at the next meeting of the public body. Not all meetings are recorded on video. Due to the COVID-19 emergency, meetings are primarily virtual. Click here for details on the format and how to participate.
Recent Finance Committee Meeting (Monday, October 19, 6 p.m.). The Finance Committee reviewed the results of the FY2020 audit and current investment performance.
Recent Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals Meeting (Wednesday, October 21, 7 p.m.). The PCZBA discussed possible changes to the regulations that govern underground garages.
Upcoming Finance Committee Meeting (Monday, October 26, 6 p.m.). The Finance Committee will discuss the preliminary 2020 property tax levy, consider recommendations from the police pension fund's actuary, and review possible adjustments to the Village's COVID-19 local business stimulus grant program.
Upcoming Village Board Meeting (Monday, October 26, 7 p.m.). The Village Board will:
- Receive a report regarding the Historic Preservation Commission's proposed amendments to the Village's historic preservation regulations.
- Consider:
- Extending the Village's declaration of emergency.
- Modifying ambulance fees.
- Authorizing use of the Train Station parking lot for winter order pickup by Farmers Market vendors.
- Prohibiting parking on the south side of East Woodland Road where it lies east of Sheridan Road.
- Authorizing Prairie Espresso to add two tables for outdoor dining on the public sidewalk in front of 79 E. Scranton Ave.
