COVID-19 Updates
COVID-19 remains a danger in Lake Bluff. We need everyone's help to keep our community healthy, keep our businesses open, and keep our schools safe.
-
Travel advisory. Lake County Health Department now recommends avoiding all non-essential travel and asks recent travelers voluntarily self-quarantine for 14 days upon their return if they did not follow safe behaviors. Staying home is the best way to protect yourself and others from getting sick.
-
Do your part. The best way to stop the spread of COVID-19 is to continue to avoid social gatherings; wear a face covering as much as you can; and to stay at least six feet from people outside your household as much as you can. You may not know if you are spreading COVID-19, and you certainly may not know if someone else does until it's too late.
Village and Community Updates
BILL ASSISTANCE. ComEd offers additional assistance to families who may be unable to pay their electric bill.
Board and Committee Actions
For more information, visit the Village's meeting packets and videos page. Agendas and meeting materials are typically available the Friday before a meeting; videos within a week after the meeting; and minutes after they are approved at the next meeting of the public body. Not all meetings are recorded on video.
Due to the COVID-19 emergency, meetings are primarily virtual. Click here for details on the format and how to participate.
Recent Committee-of-the-Whole Meeting (August 10, 6 p.m.). The Committee-of-the-Whole discussed proposed revisions to the Village's Historic Preservation Ordinance.
Recent Village Board Meeting (August 10, 7 p.m.). The Village Board:
- Extended the Village's declaration of emergency.
- Temporarily authorized hiring an additional police officer due to an anticipated vacancy.
- Approved site plan changes to Village Hall including the addition of brick pavers, landscaping, and a bench.
- Approved site plan changes to Sunrise Park including brick pavers, stairs, lighting, and bicycle racks.
- Adopted regulations regarding the use of Village property for special events and to protect public safety during the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, the changes make it a public nuisance (punishable by fine) to violate public health orders or intentionally or recklessly engage in activity that promotes the spread of contagious or infectious diseases.
Recent Historic Preservation Commission Meeting (August 12, 7 p.m.). The Historic Preservation Commission discussed the proposed revisions to the Village's Historic Preservation Ordinance. The Commission will next hold a public meeting regarding the changes at its September meeting, which may result in a recommendation to the Village Board. Stay tuned for details.
Upcoming Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals Meeting (August 19, 7 p.m.). The PCZBA will:
- Consider recommending a special use permit to allow the construction of an underground parking garage at 541 East Prospect Avenue, as well as potential changes to the treatment of underground garages under the zoning code.
- Discuss possible regulatory changes that would allow accessory dwelling units (such as "granny flats") within the Village.
