What are the Village's Zoning Requirements?
Municipal zoning requirements are designed to preserve the Village's character, protect the public health and welfare, as well as protect property values. What are the Village's Licensing Requirements?
Business Occupancy Certificate - Different from a "Building Occupancy" relating to the renovation/construction of a building, this certificate is required for all non food/beverage business operations that occupy space within the Village.
Business License - All food/beverage, food delivery service or scanvenger businesses must obtain a Business License. Business licenses expire April 30th of each year and must be renewed on an annual basis.
Liquor License - All businesses and/or individuals wishing to sell or offer for sale in the Village any alcoholic liquor must have a license. Applications are available by calling Village Hall at 847-234-0774.
Building Permit - A Building Permit is required for all projects resulting in an alteration or improvement to a property. Additional information is available by contacting Mike Croak, Building Code Supervisor, at 847-283-6885.
Sign Permit - All permanent signs require a Sign Permit. Permanent signs are not permitted unless approved by the Archtiectural Board of Review. Additional information is available by contacting Mike Croak, Building Code Supervisor, at 847-283-6885.
Site Plan Review - Any exterior alteration to an existing commercial/industrial building or the new construction of a commerical/industrial building is required to undergo a Site Plan Review by the Architectural Board of Review. Tenants are encouraged to discuss desired alterations with their landlord prior to submitting a formal application to the Village. What Types of Taxes are Applicable in Lake Bluff?
The Village levies several different types of taxes that may affect your business. Some of which include the:

Home Rule Municipal Retailer's Occupation Tax;
Home Rule Municipal Service Tax;
Home Rule Municipal Use Tax;
Automobile Rental Tax; and
